Clay by Stacia offers hand building classes. Learn the techniques of creating and glazing your own handmade functional pottery! Use my contact page to request more information or register.
I offer adult classes (age 16+) for beginning to intermediate hand building. No clay experience is necessary. We will concentrate on slab and extruding skills, but may also incorporate pinch pots and coil building. If students also want to take turns learning wheel skills, we might do a rotation, as I only have two wheels. Classes will be held at my home studio in Kyle, TX.
Each class includes instruction, glazes, firing, and 25 pounds of clay. Additional clay can be purchased for $10 per 25 pound bag. Bringing your own beginning pottery tools set (such as this) is optional, but recommended if you plan to continue in clay. They can be purchased online or locally at craft supply stores. Clipping your nails short and wearing clothes you don't mind getting dirty is recommended.
Price is $166 per student for each 6 week cycle. Each class is 2 hours, once a week. The first 5 classes we will build pottery, and the 6th class we will glaze your creations. Some glazes stain clothing, so dress accordingly on the last week. You can pick up your finished creations after I fire them, usually about two weeks after the last class.
My current 2021 classes are Sunday evening and Tuesday morning. My upcoming class cycles are:
Sundays from 6 to 8 pm:
July 18 - August 22
Tuesdays from 10 to noon:
July 20 - August 24
After these classes, the next ones will likely begin immediately, but I have not decided on an exact schedule.
I have a maximum of five slots available each session. $83 is due to secure your spot, and $83 at the first lesson. I accept cash, check, Facebook payments, Venmo, PayPal, or credit/debit. If you want to start part way through a session, and there are still openings, I can prorate the cost.

Missed lesson policy:
If you miss a lesson due to forgetting, personal business, or ordinary life circumstance, I'm sorry, but I cannot offer reimbursement or make up lessons.
Lessons missed due to emergencies will be dealt with on a case by case basis. I may offer a make-up lesson in a concurrent session if the class is not full, or a reduced price on a future session. Only if these options are not possible will reimbursement be offered. Thank you!
