Carving a wheel thrown bowl.

Register for Classes

Clay by Stacia offers hand building classes. Learn the techniques of creating and glazing your own handmade functional pottery! Use my contact page to request more information or register.

I offer adult classes (age 16+) for beginning to intermediate hand building. No clay experience is necessary. We will concentrate on slab and extruding skills, but may also incorporate pinch pots and coil building. If students also want to take turns learning wheel skills, we might do a rotation for one project per cycle, as I only have two wheels. Classes are held at my home studio in Kyle, TX.

Each class includes instruction, glazes, firing, and 25 pounds of clay. Additional clay can be purchased for $10 per 25 pound bag. Bringing your own beginning pottery tools set (such as this) is optional, but recommended if you plan to continue in clay. They can be purchased online or locally at craft supply stores. Clipping your nails short and wearing clothes you don't mind getting dirty is recommended.

Price is $190 per student for each 6 week cycle. Each class is 2 hours, once a week. The first 5 classes we build pottery, and the 6th class we glaze your creations. Some glazes stain clothing, so dress accordingly on the last week. You can pick up your finished creations after I fire them, usually about two weeks after the last class. Most pieces will be food, dishwasher, microwave, freezer, and oven safe.

My upcoming 2024 classes are Sunday evening 6-8 pm, and Monday morning 10-noon.

  • Sundays: April 7, 14, 21, 28, May 5, 26 (skipping a couple weeks for vacation).

  • Mondays: April 8, 15, 22, 29, May 6, 27.

The next six-week cycle will begin in June.

I have a maximum of five slots available each session. $95 is due to secure your spot, and $95 at the first lesson. I accept cash, check, Facebook payments, Venmo, PayPal, Zelle, or credit/debit. If you want to start part way through a session, and there are still openings, I can prorate the cost.

Thanks! Hope to see you there!
